Summary

The meeting was held on 26-28 May in Savonlinna. The venue was the historical Olavinlinna castle. The total number of participants was 43, from nine different institutes and organisations. Altogether there were 35 talks and 6 posters. The organisers wish to thank the sponsors for making it possible to organize a successful meeting. We are also grateful to the Finnish Graduate School in Astronomy and Space Science for financial support which allowed so many students to participate and meet other students and researchers. We would like to thank all the participants who have given a very interesting overview of the current astronomical research done in Finland. See you again in 2016! Basic information

Dates: 26.-28. May 2014. The meeting will start at 10.00 on Monday morning.

Venue: the Congress Hall of the Olavinlinna Castle in Savonlinna.

Accommodation: We have a block reservation at the Sokos Hotel Seurahuone in Savonlinna. The prices are 90 €/day for a single, 103 €/day for a twin and 123 €/day for a triple room. The number of single rooms is limited. The room reservations are made via the registration form, you don't have to contact the hotel yourself (in fact, the organizers strongly discourage it). Graduate students can apply for funding for the accommodation, remember to mark the relevant field in the registration form!

Presentations: The options are a contributed talk (15-20 min) and a poster. Please include your abstract in the registration form.

Language of the meeting: English

Invited: Researchers and students working with astronomy, space physics, cosmology, and related fields, in Finland.

Costs: participation fee 140€ (member) / 160 € (non-member). Students will only pay half of the member fee! If you want to join FAS right now, you can do so via the registration form. The participation fee includes lunches, coffees, a lake cruise with light dinner on Monday and conference dinner on Tuesday. The participation fee will be invoiced in advance, but the accommodation (see above) will be paid directly to the hotel at the meeting.
