The Venue
The venue will be the historical Olavinlinna castle. The location of our meeting is the beautiful city of Savonlinna. It is built on a chain of islands located throughout a number of large lakes. The city was founded in 1639, based on the 15th-century three-tower castle of Olavinlinna. It is the northernmost medieval stone fortress still standing.The castle was built on an island in the Kyrönsalmi strait that connects the lakes Haukivesi and Pihlajavesi. Our meeting will take place in the Congress Hall of Olavinlinna, which used to be a room for the soldiers to practice fencing, fighting and other important military skills.
During the meeting, lunch will be served at Kahvila Saima, ca. 200 m from Olavinlinna. On Monday evening, we will enjoy a lake cruise with a light dinner served on board. Our vessel m/s Ieva will depart from the passenger harbour next to the market square. On Tuesday, the conference dinner will be served at Wanha Kasino, which is a traditional centre of the social life of the spa guests in Savonlinna. All these locations are within an easy walking distance from our conference hotel, Sokos Hotel Seurahuone. (See the map here!)
